Nationwide workshops on Salmonella and eggs were conducted during 2015 in order to evaluate current knowledge, discuss issues and identify gaps related to quality egg production across the supply chain. Recommendations placed emphasis on future research needs, communication between industry and regulatory authorities and education of food handlers. Workshop outcomes will help the egg industry funding body (AECL) to focus on priority R&D areas in food safety.
